Reviews
To be candid, I did previously post a scathing review of this company. However, I wish to retract all negative concerns I previously held which were mainly focused on initial delays in shipping. I have continued purchasing from London mint and all subsequent items have been despatched expeditiously and considered to be of good quality and representing value for money. The coins are well designed and pleasing to the eye and the company is actually a very professional one to engage with. I look forward to future issues and expect to be making subsequent purchases from their catalogue.
I would suggest people avoid Londont Mint. I ordered the disney coin before Christmas, it was never delivered, when I emailed them and ask for refund, they gave me some soppy story they're out of stock and will be shipped within next 14 days, suffice to say it never arrived. Seems they rely on people forgetting about their order, which I did, only just remembered so I sent email asking for a refund, refunded immediately no apology, nothing. Scammers
I've read a few comments and feel I need to state my experience. During lock down my nan developed Alzheimer's. At some point during the lock down she gave her bank details over. We found hundreds of coins in my nans house most of which a
She had not even looked at. They all had receipts and some being £700. I asked my nan and she had no idea what they were. When I took her to the bank aprox £7000 had been taken over a matter of a year or so. I was fuming. I contacted the company and eventually got most of the money back. After all this another arrived in the post. I emailed the company, I did not get a response but it never happened again. In hindsight I should have reported them, especially as I've heard similar stories. Do not give your bank details!!!
Everyone that answers the phone is very helpful but unfortunately unable help (although Sarah assistant manger said they could in her trust pilot comment) or transfer the call to the person that is handling the account, when an order needs to be cancelled. Numerous phone call have been made and daily emails have been sent and still after nearly 2 weeks no phone calls have been returned. Despite being told messages are being passed on and marked urgent, which I am sure they were but ASHLEY is unable to return calls or emails.
The latest email was sent to Sarah Asst Manager today at 12:34 if anyone wants to follow it up as I'm not posting personal data here.
I would advise caution to anyone wanting to buy from the London Mint as the level of customer service when there is a problem is unacceptable
They sent a bill to my father claiming he ordered an £800 gold coin 2 days AFTER he died. When I called to complain they hung up. Bailiffs turned up at my mother's door and accepted the truth after scaring her into providing proof he died BEFORE ordering the coin.
BEWARE: Feels like a scam in that they are waiting for the return period to pass in order to charge full amount for an unwanted item. Sent an item I did not want. Customer Service failed to send the return envelopes as required. Telephone lines not answered promptly. Daily invoice reminders being received. Customer Services have apologised and promised to resend a return envelope and they have instructed me to ignore the invoice reminders. Let's see if the return envelope does this time arrive.
Update 21/12/23: The 2nd contact with customer services on the 13/12/23 finally resulted in a returns label arriving 21/12/23 but not before further emails requesting payment and a letter in the post requesting payment. I suspect many people concerned with the emails and letter would have anxiously paid. THIS IS A WELL HONED UNSCUPLULOUS BUSINESS PRACTICE AND I WOULD ADVISE TO AVOID AT ALL TIMES. They are very quick to dispatch items, very quick to send invoices and reminder invoices and letters. They are VERY slow in activating returns. BEWARE.
I will be sending the item back with their label. Let's see if at last the item is cancelled and no charges from them sought.
Update 13/01/24: The item was returned using their label. I have the receipt from the Post Office. London Mint have not responded to indicate safe arrival. I have today received a letter dated 07/01/24 adding £20 to the amount owed due to a "late payment charge". This letter dated 7/1/24 suggests I need to contact them within 10 days to prevent further action. This isn't 10 days notice. The coins have been returned.
They seem to time waste with the intention of creating anxiety so the buyer pays up plus any extra they choose to add on.
THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.
Update 24/01/24: The good news is I have the receipt for the goods sent back via Royal Mail in the envelope London Mint provided. The sad news is I have received a letter today dated 22/01/24 from DRS (Debt Recovery Specialists) with a heading inside a large red banner "Act Now - this won't go away". The letter is chasing £53.9 (not 90) for goods received. Thsi is such a scam company.
Recap: Items ordered in error, sent to me without me having made payment, sent back to them using their label, additional costs added for late payment and now a 'Debt Recovery' letter.
AVOID AVOID AVOID.
Appalling! Will not be dealing with them again! My last order was paid for and cleared from my bank on 17th October, but they are still asking me to pay as of today. Dreadful! Such a shame as the quality of their goods is very good
Nasty. I ordered coins for two separate people then asked for their details to be removed and no further communication nor any unsolicited items to be sent. They replied that I'd have to give the recipients details even though I was emailing from the email address I recorded when I made the order so I refused. Now they're adamant the account holder has to contact them but I didn't set up accounts for the two gift recipients and it was me who paid.
I've now copied in the Information Commissioners Office as it's a legal right to have such data removed.
